March Madness: Surviving the Parenting Jungle

by Karin Purugganan MEd, MA, NCC, LPC, RYT Wonderologie Owner & Founder

Spring has sprung and EVERYONE appears to be getting outdoors again! We are noticing lots of anxious kiddos in our offices. If you are noticing that your kids are struggling to stay motivated in school or at home; YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Although some schools have started their spring breaks, not all have, and school is feeling like quicksand for most kids.

Some tips for surviving this March Madness from a child therapist:

1. Put your own oxygen mask on first! Take time with friends to re-energize and
recognize that this too shall pass.
2. Get outdoors and active with your kids, it has been a long winter.
3. Sympathize with your kids, this is a hard year, but we can do hard things.
4. Keep up with routines AND add in some extra fun to break up the monotony of
the school year. Take a trip to Dairy Godmother, visit The Company of Books, or
check out the dog murals all up and down “The Avenue.”

Most of all, lean into your parenting community! If you are having difficulty with your
child that is affecting you daily, disrupting your home life, or negatively impacting school
or friendships, reach out to us! Wonderologie offers parent coaching and parent support
groups to help!
