Grateful for the #ASAFamily (& futsal!)

Katie Brooks
Alexandria Soccer Association

If you’ve chatted with any of our staff or coaches at Alexandria Soccer Association, you’ve probably heard us joke about a “slow season” or muse about “when things slow down” between programs. The truth? It’s become a running joke—because nothing ever really slows down around here. There’s always an upcoming program to plan, a tournament around the corner, an event to prepare for, or a new idea sparking energy. And honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

We’re busy because kids need engaging, fun and safe activities.

We’re energized because our community shows up.

And we’re grateful.

We’re grateful for the kids and families who fill our fields and courts, bringing joy, curiosity, and a whole lot of hustle to our soccer and futsal programming.

We’re grateful for the incredible sponsors and donors whose generosity helps make our work possible, ensuring that financial barriers never keep a child from playing.

We’re grateful for the teachers, principals, and administrators across the City who welcome us into their schools and help make After School Soccer and Soccer IN School meaningful, inclusive experiences for ALL students.

As the fall soccer season winds down and wraps up for the winter, our attention turns to one of our favorite times of year…..futsal season!

A decade ago, futsal was barely a whisper at ASA and still growing nationwide. The program was small, the courts were few, and the community wasn’t yet buzzing about the fast, technical, high-energy game that we now know and love. Over the past ten years, excitement and demand have skyrocketed (so much so that we build outdoor courts in order to have enough play space in the winter!). Kids love the speed and creativity of the sport, families love having high-quality winter programming, and coaches see firsthand how it transforms players’ technical ability.

Today, futsal is not just something we offer—it’s a core part of who we are. And we’re grateful for the opportunity to keep kids active, engaged, and playing all winter long.

There’s a futsal program for everyone:

  • Futsal Rec League – Fun, fast-paced games for players of all experience levels.
  • Futsal Ball Mastery – Weekly sessions designed to sharpen footwork, control, and creativity.
  • Academy Futsal — Competitive training and league play for Academy level players.
  • Futsal Growth Program (FGP) — bridging the experience between the Rec Lague and Academy Futsal, team based with professional training.
  • Futsal Lab — Experiment, get creative and have fun at our Futsal Camp on December 29 & 30th.
  • Reds Futsal — Players U19+ can join our men’s or women’s futsal teams this winter.

Or maybe you have a futsal team already? Enter them into the Capitol Futsal Cup or the Futsal Premier League this winter and get ready for some competition!

We’re grateful for a community that believes in kids, values active participation, champions access for all, and always steps up when it matters most. Thank you for being part of it. We’ll see you on the court!
