The world has moved toward becoming a less friendly place over the last 40 years, as detailed in a great documentary on NetFlix: Join or Die. This problem affects all age groups and crosses all borders. The impact is massive; 100 people dying each hour (World Health Organization); longevity curtailed by physical, emotional and mental stressors related to social disconnection. Vivek Murtha, former Surgeon General of the United States declared the loneliness epidemic in 2023.
My company, launched in late 2024, has developed a software platform for building community and making social connection easier. CONEXUS allows people to scan a QR code on their phone and join a community. They fill out a profile of their interests, hobbies, travel done and travel bucket list, but stay anonymous through a username and avatar that they choose.
Using some AI matching, all the participants are put into groups and people can message each other about a particular topic (Pickleball, The Washington Commanders, you name it). If the organizer or on of the group wants to set up a face-toface meeting, people can get out of the house, meet people that share their passion and exchange information if desired for future interactions.
