Spice Kraft Wins Top Awards At Taste Of Del Ray

The Del Ray Business Association hosted the 14th Annual Taste of Del Ray on June 3, showcasing a diverse collection of Del Ray’s top restaurants.   The sold-out event featured a spirited competition between 14 participating neighborhood restaurants.

Spice Kraft Indian Bistro’s Dhai Puri with mint and tamarind chutney caviar and mango tuile won both the Judges’ Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award, as voted by festival attendees.  This year’s judges were Northern Virginia Foodies founder Andrew Sample and ALIVE executive director Jennifer Ayers.

1st place: Spice Kraft Indian Bistro, Dhai Puri
2nd place: Kaizen Tavern, Miso Pork Basil Fried Rice
3rd place: Market2Market, Meatball Sliders, Chickpea Salad, and Homemade Lavender Lemonade
Honorable mention: Bella Napoli, Italian Almond Cake                          

People’s Choice
1st place:  Spice Kraft Indian Bistro, Dhai Puri
2nd place: Bella Napoli, Lobster Ravioli, Chicken Marsala, Chicken Piccata, Vegetable Lasagna, Cannoli, and Italian Almond Cake

3rd place (tie): Del Ray Cafe, Cold Corn Soup with Crab, Croque Monsieur, and Choquettes; and Northside10, Mustard BBQ Shrimp Over Smoked Gouda Grit Cake with Smoked Cajun Maque Choux
     Held every June in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, the Taste of Del Ray showcases the neighborhood’s top restaurants in a spirited competition sponsored by the Del Ray Business Association.   Proceeds from ticket sales help fund neighborhood events throughout the year.   For more information on the Del Ray Business Association, visit
