First Thursday: Show Your Spirit! takes place on Thursday, Sept. 2 from 6 p.m. to dusk in Del Ray. Wear your team colors and head out to the Avenue for live music by 11th Hour, themed activities, and more. The event is free and open to all.
This month’s featured non-profit is the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Boys & Girls Club. Needed donations include colored pencils; notebooks, notepads, and composition books; pencils; pens; children’s scissors; lined paper; and binders. Donations can be dropped off at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square, located at the intersection of Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues. Grab your squad, represent your favorite team, and enter the Most Spirited Award! Visit the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square between 6pm and 7pm in your most outrageous team gear for judging for Most Spirited Individual and Most Spirited Family/Group. Help your team or school win bragging rights for the MOST SPIRITED by having the most number of people turn out in team colors — we’ll be giving awards in three categories: school (K-12), college team, and pro sports team. Check in at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square between 6pm and 7:30pm to be counted!
