Denim Day takes place on April 30 — an annual day of action sparked by a case in Italy in which a court overturned a rape conviction, citing the victim’s tight jeans as “consent.” Outraged by this ruling, women in the Italian parliament wore jeans in protest. Since then, Denim Day has become a global movement, encouraging individuals to wear denim in solidarity with survivors and to raise awareness about sexual assault.
Wear your favorite jeans on Wednesday, April 30 and join us at Del Ray Pizzeria (2218 Mount Vernon Avenue) from 5pm to 8pm for raffles, giveaways, live music by Hope & Nat, and awareness!
