City of Alexandria Veterans’ Day Ceremony

Annual INDOOR Veterans Day Ceremony at the Captain Rocky Versace Plaza & Vietnam Veterans Memorial takes place Friday, Nov. 11 at 1pm at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center in the city of Alexandria. This event is conducted in conjunction with the Department of Defense 50-year Commemoration of the Vietnam War and will feature presentation of the Vietnam Era Veteran Lapel Pin to qualified Vietnam War era Veterans *. Patriotic music played.  Star Spangled Banner sung. Pledge of Allegiance recited.  Gold Star Family members recognized.  All U.S. military Veterans acknowledged.  Names of Alexandria’s 68 Vietnam War Fallen Heroes read.  Tribute to POW/MIA and Medal of Honor recipient Captain “Rocky” Versace. “God Bless America” sung. * Vietnam Era Veteran Qualification: Active Duty service in the U.S. Armed Forces (U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force & U.S. Coast Guard) during any period from 1 November 1955 – 15 May 1975. Service did NOT have to be in Southeast Asia.
