The city of Alexandria Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities Department and the Friends of Rocky Versace will host a program at the Captain Rocky Versace Plaza and Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The event will honor both Captain Humbert Roque “Rocky” Versace (USMA 1959, posthumous Medal of Honor Recipient, POW/MIA and Ranger Hall of Fame Inductee) and the 67 other Alexandrians who were KIA/MIA during the Vietnam War as well as all our nation’s Fallen Military Heroes. The Program will include: (1) Reciting the names of Alexandria’s 68 Vietnam War Fallen Heroes; (2) Patriotic music; (3) Reading a tribute to Captain Versace written by a fellow POW; (4) A wreath laying by Captain Versace’s USMA 1959 classmates; (5) Sounding of “Taps”; and (6) Singing of “God Bless America.” Observance will be outdoors at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center in the city of Alexandria.
