The excitement of the FIFA World Cup is building across Alexandria, and this summer our city will find itself at the center of one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
As you likely know by now, Alexandria was selected as the official base camp for the Croatian National Team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with players training at Episcopal High School and calling our beautiful city home throughout their tournament journey. After evaluating dozens of locations across North America, Croatia chose Alexandria for its world-class facilities, welcoming community, and strategic location near Washington, D.C.
For a city that loves soccer, this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. The arrival of one of the world’s most respected football nations will bring international attention, visiting supporters, and an incredible energy to our streets, restaurants, businesses, and neighborhoods.
Throughout the tournament, ASA and the entire City will celebrate the global game with community events, watch parties, cultural experiences, and more. We hope you can join us for some soccer fun right here at home!
World Cup Events in Alexandria
- ASA World Cup Soccer Day Camps — Step onto the pitch and experience the excitement of the World Cup Summer Camp Series! This high-energy soccer day camp is open to players of all skill levels who want to sharpen their technique, boost their confidence, and elevate their game.
- Flavors & Sounds of Croatia – Alexandria — The City of Alexandria will host a community celebration to honor Croatian heritage. “Flavors & Sounds of Croatia – Alexandria” will take place on Saturday, June 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Waterfront Park (1 Prince Street). This event is free and open to the public.
- Pitches & Pints Adult Watch Party, June 12th — Join ASA for a World Cup Watch Party at Piece Out as the US team takes on Paraguay in its opening World Cup match.
- Family Watch Party, June 19th — Join ASA for a World Cup Family Watch Party at Gustave Boulangerie, as the US team takes on Australia. Kickoff is at 3pm! (FREE!)
- Team Croatia Watch Parties — Technically not in Alexandria…. Join the Croatian Embassy at Franklin Hall in DC to catch Croatia’s first group stage games!
