The Del Ray Business Association and the Old Town Business Association face off in the 5th annual Del Ray vs. Old Town softball battle on Thursday, May 25th, a fundraiser for Alexandria Little League.
The grand event will take place at little field at Eugene Simpson Park (426 E. Monroe Avenue). Team Del Ray, led by Coach Bill Blackburn of the Homegrown Restaurant Group, is looking forward to defending the John Porter Cup and champion status against Team Old Town, lead by Trea Lamond of Chadwicks. The overall series is 2-2.
This event is sponsored by Port City Brewing Company, Simpson Real Estate and Yates Service. Mayor Justin Wilson throws out the first pitch at 6pm. A gift basket of gift cards to Del Ray Businesses (Total: $1000K+) will be raffled off for Alexandria Little League, who’s objective is “to implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority, so that they may well be adjusted, stronger, and happier children and will grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens.”
Raffle tickets will be on sale starting Tuesday May 16th. You do not need to be present to win the raffle!
