TROUBLESHOOTING: Turkey Trot Registration ErrorsNo confirmation email = failed registration. A database record is
created when you
complete the registration form on this website, but no confirmation email is sent until you pay. Upon payment, your status changes from "pending" to "confirmed" and you'll
receive a confirmation email from us and one from PayPal.
Nearly all unsuccessful registrations are caused by failure to complete payment. We can't say what went wrong in your case, but here are some possibilities:
- Credit card company thinks charge is fraudulent (multiple registrations). If you try to register more than one runner in quick succession, your credit card company may reject the second and subsequent charges as potentially fraudulent. Consider paying with a different card (or a PayPal account balance) or allowing a few hours between registrations.
- System times out. If you don't pay promptly, our website or PayPal may "time out" and prevent you from completing the transaction.
- PayPal account not ready. If you haven't used your PayPal account in a while, you may have forgotten your login information, or the credit card associated with the account may have expired. Best to check these things before registering again.
- Credit card or email address is associated with a PayPal account. If you try to pay directly with a credit card (i.e., without logging into a PayPal account) and that card or your email address is already associated with a PayPal account, PayPal may require you to log in. This can be a problem if you don't know the login information (for example, if the account belongs to your spouse). Try again with a different credit card and/or email address.
- Invalid card number or expiration date
- Secure networks. Some government and business networks have
security features that may interfere with online financial
transactions. Try again from a different location.
Payment failed? Start over. You can't log in to a
"pending" registration to complete payment. Just start over. If you
see a screen that says you're already registered (because the system recognizes your
email address), ignore it and continue. A second record will be created for you, and we'll delete the "pending" one.
Or, you can send payment directly. Click
here for details.
Check your registration status manually. If you think you paid but didn't receive a confirmation email, you can check your status by starting the registration process again. Enter your email address and click Next. If you see a warning screen that says you're registered
and your status is "confirmed," you're all set. If not, your payment did not process correctly.
- Note: If you registered more than one runner with the same email address, the system will show only the most recent one.
Won't I have the same problem the second time? Highly unlikely. About 5% of runners have a problem with their first registration attempt. Nearly all of them succeed on the second try.
